The uniform radial pole division offers significant advantages compared to magnetic chucks with parallel pole or square pole division in particular when processing rings and discs that are difficult to hold as well as sleeves. A higher stability and stiffness can be achieved through radial pole division in particular with larger diameters. A centric through-hole can be incorporated in the area that has no active magnet.
The electropermanent magnetic chuck EPMradial from Assfalg is ideal for clamping big, rotationally-symmetrical workpieces (for example, bearing ring processing) starting at a diameter of 400 mm, in particular on rotating and milling machines as well as drilling machines without distortion.
The EPMradial electropermanent magnetic chuck permits an extreme takeoff during the hard processing of rings. The highest precision is achieved during grinding work.
Permanent and mobile pole extensions can be used on the pole strips with T-slots. Pole extensions make it possible also for uneven workpieces or raw parts to be clamped without distortion. The workpiece is clamped and raised and can be processed without the magnetic chuck being damaged.
Special cable with bayonet fixing or fixed cable with slip ring carrier enable a quick and simple connection from the magnetic chuck to the controller.
The permanent magnet system is moved inside when it is switched on and off, e.g. by operating a lever. It consists of a pole plate and a magnet body. When switched off, the pole plate is not exactly congruent with the magnet body, which leads to a magnetic short circuit (Figure 1). When switched on, the pole plate is congruent with the magnet body and the magnetic circuit can only be closed via the workpiece (see Figure 2).
Features:
All Assfalg electro-permanent magnetic chucks are equipped with a maximum of poles in the relationship to the size of the chuck.
If you review a price comparison, it is important for you, to analyze the clamping force of the chuck, because not the size of the chuck is important for the clamping force but the numbers of the poles are crucial for the clamping force of the magnetic chuck. It can mean that you will have bigger price differences by the same size of the magnetic chucks.

You have already informed yourself about magnetic clamping, but for you are the advantages of the different Electropermanent Square Pole Chucks not yet understandable? Before you decide for a Electropermanent Magnetic Chuck, represented on the market, please ask you the following questions:
The electropermanent magnetic chuck from Assfalg Magnaslot is ideally suited for clamping of small and big work pieces for milling operations. Pole extensions, easily fixed on the surface of the magnetic chucks, guaranted a clamping without distortion even for uneven work pieces. The full steel body, patented and only available by Assfalg-magnets, offers an ideal protection against external influences like hot chips and coolant. If you work very big work pieces, you will get optionally a 4 channel controller, making a simultaneous switching of max. 4 magnetic chucks.
